It's also the most affordable entry point into this valley's housing market, which sounds modest until you remember that 'affordable' here still means restored Victorians along Grand Avenue with Art Deco and Tudor Revival storefronts from the pre-1920s hot-springs-resort boom.
The newer money is moving into hillside neighborhoods like Glenwood Park and Cardiff Glen, and into golf-course product at Ironbridge, but this is still fundamentally a town of full-time residents and commuters priced out of Aspen and Snowmass. Not a second-home market. That changes what furniture actually needs to do here: survive daily use by a family that lives in the house year-round, not sit pristine for three weeks a year.
Downtown's restored Victorians along Grand Avenue have narrower stairwells and lower ceiling heights than newer construction, so a piece that's oversized on paper simply doesn't make the turn into the room. Ironbridge and the newer hillside builds run bigger and more open, closer to what you'd see upvalley, and look thin with undersized furniture. But the bigger factor in Glenwood is durability. These are primary residences with kids, dogs, and daily traffic, not vacation houses that sit empty most of the year.
