SINCE 1975 · SETTING UP SHOP DOWN THE ROAD FROM SLIFER'S FLAGSHIP

Edwards is where the valley's design trade actually lives.

Edwards doesn't get the postcard treatment Vail and Beaver Creek do, and that's fine with Edwards.

It's an unincorporated town with grocery stores, schools, and actual year-round residents, centered on the Riverwalk development along the Eagle River where US-6 meets the I-70 spur. It's also the valley's real design-industry headquarters Slifer Designs' flagship showroom sits right in the Riverwalk retail core, which makes Edwards the de facto interior-design hub for the whole valley, not just a bedroom community for Vail commuters.

The housing stock here is the most varied of any town in the valley. Cordillera's 7,000 gated acres split into five distinct neighborhoods. The Divide runs European stone-and-timber estates, while Homestead and Singletree are practical duplexes and single-family homes built for people who actually live here full time. That range means Edwards furniture demand isn't one market. It's several, stacked on top of each other along the same five-mile stretch of Highway 6.

Why Edwards' furniture market is really three markets.

Cordillera's Divide neighborhood calls for the scale and material weight you'd expect from a European-inspired stone estate. A retail sectional looks thin against those proportions. Singletree and Homestead, on the other end, are full-time family homes where furniture needs to survive daily wear more than it needs to impress a dinner guest. Riverwalk's condos and townhomes split the difference, with tighter room dimensions that punish anything bought without measuring first. We build to whichever of those three Edwards a client is actually furnishing, which is more useful than pretending it's one market.

Riverwalk gets a low-key market-night energy on summer evenings, with live music drifting past the Slifer showroom windows while the Eagle River runs high behind Main Street. If a Cordillera great room or a Singletree family room still needs its centerpiece, this is a good season to start. (818) 264-6340.
